Custom Paper Order Considerations

Interested in a custom paper order? I’d love to help.

To streamline this process, I’ve outlined a few things to consider while working through the design/order with me. Please send serious inquiries to sharestudios@gmail.com or contact me below.

Fibers: I primarily work with Kozo (Paper Mulberrry : Broussonetia papyrifera) and Abaca (Banana : Musa textilis)

These two fibers allow me to create a range of papers from smooth to very textural. The Abaca papers tend to have a smoother/more even writing surface (left), while the Kozo is usually more textural due to the beautiful wabi sabi nature of the long fibers (right).

Despite the natural textures and nuances of paper made completely by hand, I’ve seen beautiful calligraphy, letterpress, and foiling done on both styles of paper with amazing results. A few stunning examples on my more challenging kozo papers below.

(Calligraphers and wedding designers, if you tag your work @share.studios on instagram I am always thrilled to see and share with my customers! I'm working on a calligrapher directory with images, so feel free to email me with submissions on my papers).

Size/Pricing (per piece):

Sizes are approximate, depending on the fiber shrink rate. Abaca shrinks more than Kozo. But Kozo has longer fibers and larger (often wilder) deckle edges.

Business Card size: 2.75 x 3.75'' : $1

Note Size : 5.75 x 8.75’’ : $2

Letter size : 9 x 11.5’’ : $4

Large : 12 x 18’’ : $8

Square : 17 x 17’’ : $8

Extra Large : 15 x 23’’ : $10

Note: these are the sizes I can produce with natural deckle edges. If you need a specific size, those can be custom sized from larger sheets to produce an artfully torn faux deckle edge.

Envelopes: My standard Envelope sizes are Note Size (4.75 x 6’’) and Letter size (4.25 x 9.5’’). Custom envelope sizes are possible. Just tell me the exact dimensions, and I can put together a sample design. Envelopes are typically $4 a piece, depending on size.

I love working on custom orders, but due to the unique nature of each project, it is difficult to give a specific bulk pricing structure. I can often give discounts on larger orders, but it depends on the details of the project, as some are more labor intensive than others. I always try my best to offer reasonable pricing for each project.

So, if you're thinking about placing a custom order. Give these details a bit of thought, and shoot me an email with as much information about your project that you can give me. Looking forward to hearing from you.
